QB Privacy

We take your privacy very seriously, Therefore we have written a small privacy policy. This is effective as of 18/07/09.

What we are

Quotebucket is a online database that stores user-submitted quotes, as stated on the home page of Quotebucket.

What we are NOT

We're not a corporate organization, and thus the information your browser passes through to our website is kept with us, and ONLY us.

What we collect

When you submit quotes to our database for review, Only two things are submitted:
The users' IP address.
The quote that was submited
Users' IP addresses are only kept until we decide to accept or deny that quote, IP addresses are not shown publicly and the address can be only viewed by one of our management team via the administration panel. Once we review a quote, the IP address is automatically deleted and then ONLY the quote is shown publicly. IP addresses are only kept temporarily to prevent unwanted spam clogging up the database.

The use of blocking

Most spambots can't submit to the database because we have spam blocking features. This blocks the use of "href" and "[/url]"
However, URL's are never blocked. and thus we may need to 403 users who submit a bunch of urls with no real meaning.
Putting a 403 on a user is simple, As noted above we collect IP addresses temporarily for this situation and we use the IP addresses to 403 users that break the rules.

Identification

When you submit a quote, and when it gets accepted. we hold no responsibility if that quote identifies you.
For example, you may submit a quote about your friends' conversation, and they may not be happy if it was from a personal conversation.

Services that collect statistics

Here at Quotebucket, we use Google Analytics and Quantcast. These services collect user statistics, however. the data is not identifiable.
For the privacy policies for Google Analytics and Quantcast, please go over to the websites in question.

A future point of view

In the future, we may or may not introduce a News letter system, A news letter system is where you opt-in for daily news about Quotebucket.
If, in the future, we decide to make a news system available. we will NOT sell, or give your e-mail addresses to companies.

E-mailing the webmaster

Often, we get users e-mailing webmaster@quotebucket.org, The e-mails you send us are private and are NEVER given out to the public.

Rating quotes

Again, when you rate quotes on Quotebucket. your IP address is kept and then stored in the database forever. However, these IP addresses are stored in the database using MD5 encryption, and cannot be viewed even on the server side. IP addresses are never displayed publicly. This feature only stores IP addresses so that you cannot double rate the same quote.
